APG Media of Chesapeake is proud to make a donation on behalf of the Women to Watch program to the Foundation of Hope, a Maryland-based nonprofit with a mission of empowering young girls and women to be successful leaders. Similarly to Foundation of Hope, we hope that the Women to Watch program, from the magazine to the Summer Speaker Series encourages growth and leadership in whatever stage of your career you may be and leads to connections that will further your personal and professional development.
MEET THE SPEAKERS
Meisha Amia (Woolford)

Meisha Amia (Woolford) currently serves the local community as the Program Coordinator for Adolescent Health at Dorchester County Health Department. Prior to moving back home, Meisha created a global impact through travel nursing, authentic storytelling and mentorship for nurses and entrepreneurs. She was born in Cambridge, MD and attended those public schools. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from Coppin State University and a Master of Science degree in Nursing Executive Leadership from Kaplan University. Meisha now has 15 years of experience in the nursing profession. Most of that experience includes: Public Health Settings, Labor & Delivery and Postpartum hospital services. Over the years she has done her footwork in the community to give back, to educate and to empower other community leaders, nurses and nursing students. Award-winning and recognized for her initiatives/ nursing service in the community; Meisha is a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc., a published author, and former travel nurse of 11 years. Her self-help book for travel nurses is called, The Bedside Boss: From Scrubs to Six Figures. In 2016, Meisha founded 2 communities for empowerment and education in nursing and entrepreneurship. Chicks with Cheques that grew to more than 20,000 entrepreneurs and The Nurse Power Network, which is a community with over 30,000 nurses In 2017, Meisha started focusing on her philanthropy initiatives, with the launch of Bumps of Love; she has donated over 8,000 diapers to support underprivileged families of Dorchester County. After spending a decade traveling all over the world to serve women and fellow nurses, Meisha's mission is to now share her knowledge and skills gained to promote wellness and self-care for women, nurses, and teenagers of her local community.

Dr. Sharon M. Pepukayi currently serves as the superintendent of Talbot County Public Schools (TCPS). Prior to moving back home to Talbot County, she served as the assistant superintendent of Appoquinimink School District in Middletown, Delaware. She has over 30 years of experience in public school education. Dr. Pepukayi’s prior experiences in education include elementary teacher, assistant principal, and principal in Delaware and Ohio. Because of her passion for teaching and educating, she has facilitated an Aspiring Administrator’s Program, mentors school-aged youth, served on various state committees around principal pipelines and evaluations, and speaks at national conferences. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from Bennett College (NC); Master of Arts in Early and Middle Childhood Education from The Ohio State University, and Doctor of Education in Innovation and Leadership from Wilmington University (DE). Some of her notable awards include being featured in the New Castle County Women’s Journal, honored as Administrator of the Year by the Delaware Association of Office Professionals, and received the Educator of the Year award by the National Sorority of Phi Delta Kappa, Inc. Dr. Pepukayi holds memberships with the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development (ASCD), American Association of School Administrators (AASA), National Association of Black School Educators, and is a charter member of the Middletown (DE) Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta, Sorority, Inc. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family and traveling with her friends.
Ivette Furneisen, a native of Spain, received her Juris Doctorate from the University of Barcelona Law School. While in Law School, Ivette was a Student Representative and an International Representative, where she attended national and international youth congresses, developing policy recommendations on global issues for the European Parliament. Ivette moved to the U.S. (colorado) in 2013. In December 2014, she moved to Chestertown MD with her husband. Ivette received her Master’s Degree in U.S. Law from George Mason Law School. She worked for a legal non-profit (Shore Legal Access) organization assisting with immigration cases before the United States Citizenship Immigration Services for four years. Before she opened Campbell and Furneisen, she worked at a law firm for 3 years. Ivette is admitted to practice in both state and federal courts in the State of Maryland, District of Columbia Court of Appeals and the Executive Office for Immigration Review.
